Question Of The Day
The following text is adapted from Jane Addams’ speech at the Chicago Anti-Slavery Society, delivered in 1907:
In the great and complicated industrial centers of our country, a multitude of diverse groups of people work together. They speak various languages, follow different traditions, and hold distinct aspirations. This diversity should not be seen as a problem but as a rich source of potential cooperation. Yet, many continue to regard these differences with suspicion, leading to mistrust and division. The real issue at hand is whether we can mold these differences into harmony for the greater good, or whether we allow disunity to separate us further. The solution lies in mutual respect and the conscious effort to understand one another.
According to the text, what is one challenge regarding diversity in industrial centers?
